Mission Statement:

What Is Inner City Soccer?

Inner City Soccer, Inc. is designed to introduce the sport of soccer to children living in communities that are not yet reached or served by existing programs. We are devoted to conducting enrichment soccer clinics, camps, and organized leagues in which the participants will play and improve their knowledge of the game through positive reinforcement.

Our focus is to make soccer available to every child regardless of income. Inner City Soccer will provide training for parent coaches. Since October 2002, Inner City Soccer has served over 500 kids, many of which received soccer balls, shirts, socks, and shoes at little or no cost.

Why Do You Need Inner City Soccer?

Soccer is the fastest growing sport in the United States, yet soccer has sparsely served the inner cities, rural communities, ethnic groups and lower income families.

Inner City Soccer assures that every child has the opportunity to play the game with assistance through the US Youth Soccer funded program - Soccer Start.

Each program is uniquely designed to meet the needs and structure of the group.  Sometimes a group my have hundreds of kids, others with one or two teams in a neighborhood.

Costs Involved?

The cost of participation varies depending on administrative and coaching fees, insurance, transportation, and equipment costs. Cost will be kept at a minimum for all participants but no child will be turned away because of the ability to pay. Our goal is to make our program available to every child… and provide a soccer ball to all participants.

Game Activities

The enrichment clinics that are done by Inner City Soccer replace the traditional method of "drills" that eliminate children as the level of difficulty increases. Our methods are "game activities".

When seeing these games for the first time, an on-looker might think the kids are wasting their time, but that is not true.  Inner City Soccer understands a child’s demand for care and reinforcement. We understand that having them wait in a single line to touch the ball, and then not succeed on the drill, will bruise them emotionally, and lessen their self-image of their capabilities.

We offer games that will teach them more effectively than the painful drills you endured as a child. Games that challenge, but do not frustrate your child, Games that build, rather than hurt their feelings, and undermine their confidence and sense of involvement.

Our game activities allow the children to run and jump at a level where they feel successful. They are able to participate at their own ability level, while they are successfully being taught the game of soccer.
